sqlShark is a light weight and zero impact database monitoring solution for Microsoft SQL Server. It "sniffs" out SQL Server packets directly off the network and provides a near real time picture of the client-server interactions. It allows tracking of SQL activity at an individual level which can be used to monitor performance, adherence to SLAs, compliance to Acts such as SOX and HIPAA or for defensive spying on SQL executed by third party software.

Why and how are we different ?

A pertinent question to ask and may already posed is "Why should I buy a license of sqlShark ? ". We think that there are several reasons, but you can judge for yourselves :-

• Community driven product - Enterprise product development by nature is closed. Most of the time it is centered around competition and marketing aspects such as the "first mover advantage". While this may be an acceptable practice we believe that it is not in the best interest of the customer, who is specifically looking for a solution to a particular problem and does not care about all the other "features".
  
  With this in mind, we have tried to bring in the "community driven development" aspect of Open Source Software here. Features, enhancements are all requested and driven by our customers. If the community finds something useful we simply add it. We encourage discussions between users to drive the software in the direction they see as most serving. In essence this is also your product as much as it is ours.



• Free as in Freedom - Though this is a commercial offering, if we think any feature or enhancement request by a customer will benefit the general community, we do it free of cost. As a product policy all requirements (whether generic or specific) are shared with all users in the next version upgrade.



• Rapid availability - We do follow a fixed schedule for each major\minor release but we also realize the urgency of a customer requirement. We make point drops (not general availability) to the stakeholders whenever a requested feature is completed. This also helps validating the requirement against the implementation as early in the development cycle as possible.
  
  
• Excellent support and engineering skills - Our development team comprises of members from the j-Interop community. They understand protocol implementations well and have an excellent support record. The "readme" accompanying the installation has direct contact details of our development staff.



• Effortless and continous evaluations - We would never ask you for your name, email-id , father's email-id, grand father's email-id and so on to download and evaluate sqlShark. The evaluations are restricted to 14 days but can be extended easily from the sqlShark Console itself. Evaluate to your hearts content.
